HOW IT WORKS:

(to watch it in action, check out the flipbooks/BTS!)

First, I come into your home and find the ideal spot for the tableau. Perhaps we move the furniture around a bit, adjust lamps, tidy messes… or maybe the space is perfect as it is.

Then I light the tableau using soft, flattering lights, accentuating the existing light and giving it a more cinematic look.

This is where my experience as a film director comes in. Many people, myself included, feel uncomfortable in front of a camera. So what I’ve learned is how to help you relax and feel comfortable and have fun, so your true personality can shine through. Maybe that means we find an action for you to engage in. Maybe that means you look at someone or something else, and not the camera. Or maybe you’re comfortable smiling at the lens, and we do that!

Here’s where it gets interesting… Using a technique from filmmaking, I shoot the tableau in pieces. It's one camera setup, but within that, perhaps everyone is all together or perhaps we do individuals one at a time. Afterwards, in photoshop, I pick out the best take of each person (or pet) and composite them together. This enables us to take our time but not force kids or pets to sit still for too long, as well as being able to choose the best take of each adult, so there's no pressure to get everyone's best take all in one shot.

A perk I enjoy offering is styling people using their own clothes. To whatever extent makes you most comfortable, I can oversee the styling of your outfit, working with you to find the ideal ensemble that makes you feel great — comfortable, attractive, and the most authentic version of yourself. Also, I enjoy coordinating everyone’s outfits together, for an aesthetically pleasing, harmonious look.

The final result is a masterful composite that evokes the look of a classic painted portrait and captures the unique essence of your personality and your home.
